VEEAM V8 hosts on 2 sites connected with 2 antennas

Post by ddk1965 »

Hello,

we have 2 host sites with Vmware servers connected with 2 antennas.
Veeam is running on site 1 and backups all hosts to 2 nas on both sites. Also site 1 has a tape backup.
With V8 we can also activate a tape backup on site 2.

Now my question. If the connection fails between the 2 sites only site 1 is backuped not site 2.
How can I solve this? Is there a local agent I can install on site 2 so the backups are also taken?

Danny

Hi Danny,

I think that the easiest way would be to make a backup of your VBR's config and keep it on site 2.
If the connection fails, all you need to do is to deploy a new VBR server using config backup (won't take much time). When server is ready map you backup jobs to your site 2 NAS.

Thank you.

P.S. By the way - what kind of antennas do you use?

Hey PTide,

to activate a new VBR server do you need a second licence?
The antennas are Subten 500Mbit p2p.
