Veeam V8 - Patch 1
Morning all,
I can see there have been a few minor bugs raised for V8, overall it seems like a very stable release so well done Veeam team.
Most BEarena customers wait for a Patch 1 release before implementing an upgrade, can you advise if the bug fixes are to be rolled into a Patch 1 release and if so what is the expected date?
Thanks
Darryl

Re: Veeam V8 - Patch 1
Hi, Darryl.
Yes, all the current hot fixes (for about 150 bugs in total) and even a few new features will be rolled into the Patch #1. I will have an update on the currently estimated date tomorrow after our all-hands weekly meeting, however the original plan was to release around December 20.
And you are right - looking at our support statistics, this release is one of the most stable major releases we have ever had. After the first 3 full weeks, v8 caused just +180% support load spike on 120'000 user base, when v7 caused +250% spike on 70'000 user base, and v6... well, I don't want to remember this one we are certainly getting better!
Thanks!

Re: Veeam V8 - Patch 1
As promised, I double checked and December 18 is the currently planned date. There is a small chance it may slip - not because we suck at planning, but only if some terrible new issue is found last minute that we cannot release patch without adding a fix for. And even though it's pretty unlikely to find out about this kind of issue at this time, when it's been 4 weeks after GA, there is always a chance. Thanks!

Re: Veeam V8 - Patch 1
I must 2nd that. Veeam B&R v8.0.0.817 is already very very stable and simply offers more features than it's predecessor, so for me there's simply no excuse not to use the current release.

Re: Veeam V8 - Patch 1
No issues actually. The patch was released yesterday (shortly after v.Eremin's post), and we've been doing pilot deployments since then with the customers who have support cases open on some issues the patch resolves. This is the standard procedure before rolling out a patch to the masses.

Usually after a few days of pilot deployments, depending on the results (if no unexpected issues are found).

Re: Veeam V8 - Patch 1
Usually we want to do at least 3 business days of pilot deployments, so expect general availability mid this week (if all goes well).

Re: Veeam V8 - Patch 1
Might be worth mentioning in the release notes the fact that you need to install new certificates to run the update...

Re: Veeam V8 - Patch 1
Thing is, you should not need to install any "new" certificates. Whatever comes with Windows out of box works fine. All of our test labs run clean installs of plain vanilla Windows. Also, out of about 5000 patch 1 downloads, we had only 5 support cases open with customers having some certificate issues.
