Veeam v9 with Cloud Connect still on v8

Post by Marten_med_e »

Hi

Do I need to wait for our cloud connect provider to be on version 9 before I update our Veeam server, I know that we would not bee able to use any of the new cloud connect features in v9 before they are updated, but I do really looking forward to use some of the new features "internally".

Cheers,
Mårten

Yes, your cloud provider has to upgrade to v9 to be able to send backups or replicas offsite. V9 to V8 will not work.

Niels is correct, also please note that Cloud Connect v9 has backward compatibility with v8.

Typically, Service Providers are instructed to stay on the higher version that their customers. Due to that they are provided with new product versions and updates much earlier (this time, it was 4 weeks in advance).

So, I expect a majority of them to have already deployed Version 9. Though, it would not harm to confirm this directly with your provider prior to updating your own installation.

Thanks.
