Veeam vackup validator

Post by sirhideo »

Hi, not sure if this is officially support but I would like to ask how can I enable veeam.backup.validator to retrieve replica metadata from a remote repository? During validation process of a replication job it keeps prompting unable to read metadata ...

Thanks!

Veeam Backup Validator works with backup files, not replica metadata. Can you post the exact issue you have while working with replication jobs? Thanks.

Error occurs below once I simply run the command - veeam.backup.validator.exe /backup:"Replication_job"

Validating VM...
VM Name: VM1
Creation Time: 8/28/2015
Backup type: snapshot
Platform: VMware
OS Name: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 (64-bit)
Skipping VM "VM1": Unable to read metadata

While the metadata from the above replication job setting has been re-directed onto a networked repository (192.168.x.x E:\metadata) instead of veeam default repository "C:\backup". I think this is causing issue for validator not able to read it?

For backup jobs, i.e. vbk or vrb the validator works perfectly.

As I've said, Backup Validator isn't supposed to validate replica metadata. Thus, the failures. Thanks.
