Veeam Virtual Lab ping between vlans not working

Post by its-user01 »

When setting up Veeam Virtual Lab, i ran into this problem when configuring Network Settings:

Network addresses specified for different vNIC adapters must belong to different networks. For example, if the first network adapter has address 192.168.0.1 and the network mask is 255.255.255.0, and the second one — 192.168.0.2 and the network mask is 255.255.255.0, such configuration will not work. In this situation, you need to assign to the second adapter an IP address from a different network, for example, 172.16.0.1.
Found here:https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... l?ver=95u4

We have bumped into this case, so what can we do to make it work?
They say: In this situation, you need to assign to the second adapter an IP address from a different network, for example, 172.16.0.1.
That I do not understand??

Hi Brian,

Just make sure Network Part of the IP address is different between vNICs, as mentioned in the example.

Thanks

I still do not understand.
This is my setup:
Vm1: ip: aa.bb.cc.96 (vlan x)
Vm2: ip: aa.bb.cc.248 (vlan y)
They both have subnet 255.255.255.128
How do I make it possible to ping between the two servers, without change the servers ip?

Hi Brian,

Is this a description of your virtual lab or production network?

You may spin up both of these VMs in a single isolated network of a single Virtual Lab, or use two isolated networks (vNICs should run different networks) within a single Virtual Lab but tick the "Route network traffic between vNICs" checkmark to enable traffic routing.

Thanks
