Veeam VSS backup of Domain Controllers permissions
I am trying to take valide VSS backup of our Active Directory servere (vm), but when testing credentials, I get this error:
Connecting to guest OS via VIX Error: Cannot upload file to admin share [C:\Windows].
Could not create guest directory [C:\Windows\VeeamGuestHelpersTest]
Could not create guest [vm-xxxxxx] directory [C:\Windows\VeeamGuestHelpersTest]
Could not invoke guest operation
A general system error occurred: vix error codes = (1, 0).
The account i use is member of the "Enterprise Admins" group.
It looks like it is not enough.
Questing: What rights to I need to give the account, so Veeam can make valid VSS backups of our Active Directory vm´s??

Hi Brian, do you see any issues during the actual backup of this VM? Credentials test performs two checks - over network (RPC) and over VIX, if at least one of them is successful, it is sufficient for a successful backup.

Hi Brian,
VIX connection can fail due to a variety of reasons (could be checked with our support team if you require a detailed answer), but I do not think this is a problem, as Foggy mentioned.
Thanks

Yes, the backups works fine with no errors.
So I can assume that I have a valid Veeam VSS backup of our Domain Controllers?

Re: Veeam VSS backup of Domain Controllers permissions
Correct, since the by default we utilize RPC. If there any issues with RPC or VIX you'll notice a few lines in the job UI/log, but keep in mind VIX probably does not work in your case (yet) so in case RPC fails there is no alternative and the job might fail to produce an app-consistent backup.
Thanks
