Hi Guys,
I have 2 exchange 2016 configured in a DAG, the backup of one server completes successfully, but the other is returning a warning: vss : backup job failed, a vss critical writer has failed. Rebooting the server didnt bypass the warning. The server returning this is the server holding the passive copy of the database. is this behavior normal?
or could it be an issue related to veeam or the exchange?
thank you

Re: veeam with exchange dag
Hi Elio, you should investigate the VSS writer issue. What writer is it? Have you already contacted technical support with this?

Re: veeam with exchange dag
Hi,
No i did not contact the support yet.
I'm trying to troubleshoot it alone, the restart of the exchange information store service resolves the issue for the next scheduled backup, however the day after, the warning reappears again

Re: veeam with exchange dag
You can check the writers status using the 'vssadmin list writers' command to check the particular one that has issues.
