VeeamBackup.mdf 10 GB

Post by eisback »

Hi, we have a very small environment with only 10 VMs to backup. We have two jobs (VMware Backup + VMware Backup Copy) ... unfortunately the VeeamBackup.mdf has reached 10 GB (we are using SQL Express) und the problem seems to be the table dbo.Tombstones.Backup which is 9.912.624 kb of size ... what can we do? Thanks!

Hello,
if you only do 10 VMs backup, that sounds very strange.

Please contact support and post the case number here for reference.

Best regards,
Hannes

Did you get a response on what that TombStones table is for? I noticed that on one of ours it is growing quite substantially whilst we are running the DropStoppedOldJobSessions stored procedure, almost like every record that the procedure cleans up, is then noted in the TombStones table?

The behaviour looks unexpected. The tombstones table stores deleted entities. It stores them for one week and then removes.

So, either automatic cleanup procedure does not work or there are millions of entities created and deleted within one week. Either way we'd like to investigate it properly, so, please, open your own case.

By the way, we've already reached the owner of 03724789 case to assist with investigation process.

Thanks!

The support has recommended shrinking the given table which solves the issue temporarily (but might not necessarily fix the problem permanently).

If the issue re-appears, kindly, let us know, we will make sure that the root cause is found.

Thanks!
