VeeamVssSupport Service installing every time a backup runs

Hi

Could someone please explain why the VeeamVssSupport Service appears to be installed every day when a backup is run? despite the service already being installed

I have event monitoring software running and rightly so it alerts on ID 7045 which occurs when a service is installed

But this alert triggers every day on my virtual servers being backed up with Veeam - as for some odd reason it appears to reinstall the service before every backup - which really doesn't make any sense?!? - you install a service once and you can start/stop it as needed, you don't need to constantly install it every day unless updating it

So why do I get these events every day on every server?

Hi and welcome to the community!
To perform guest processing tasks, Veeam Backup & Replication does not deploy persistent agents inside VMs. Instead, it uses non-persistent services which are deployed on every VM added to the job when the job starts and removed as soon as the job finishes. It helps avoid agent-related drawbacks such as pre-installing, troubleshooting and updating.

Will add an exclusion to my event monitoring software to not warn on VeeamGuestAgent.exe

No never tried it, but this does all our infrastructure virtual and physical

You may try Veeam ONE as a monitoring tool for backup infrastructure though.
