There is currently no option to select a source proxy when backing up VM's using VeeamZip and instead it relies on automatic network detection. The problem is, it doesn't appear to be actually checking the subnet and rather is making an assumption based on the IP address in question.
We're using 10.x.x.x addresses on our network with different /24 subnets in different locations and when running a VeeamZip job the following appears in the log:
So it seems to be assuming that a /8 subnet is being used and as such is allocating a proxy that is based over a WAN link - this is obviously a problem as VeeamZip is running a full backup and so will likely cripple bandwidth and even if that doesn't happen a large job is never going to complete on a slow link.[15.08.2012 14:30:47] <01> Info [ProxyDetector] Proxy [SERVERNAME] - IP address [10.1.0.x] is in the same subnet as host [VMware ESXi 5.0.0 build-469512] IP [10.2.0.x]. Subnet mask [255.0.0.0].
I've logged a support case (ID#5210979) but thought it worth posting here as I generally check the forums before raising an issue as I'm sure many people do.
Cheers,
