Post by mteamjpy » Jun 21, 2012 11:24 am

Dear All ,

do someone already use veeamzip to create an archive of an SQL or sharepoint user ?
do i have to shutdown, quiesce or simply do it ?

You simply do it with the default VeeamZIP settings.

VeeamZIP uses Veeam Backup engine that has been backing up virtual SharePoint and SQL servers for 5 years now (over 40`000 paying customers), so the answer to your first question is definitely "YES" :)

VeeamZIP uses VMware Tools quiescence to perform application-level quiescing, so you get an application-consistent backup. But VeeamZIP does not perform advanced application-aware image processing (application-specific backup and restore procedures, including truncation of Microsoft Exchange and SQL Server transaction logs, restart after restore in correct application recovery mode, etc.). This can be done with the help of normal backup jobs only.

that's an important news maybe it's better to put it in faqs actually .
also it can be an improvement feature for veeamzip as well
