Version 7 install issues

Post by marky »

Attempting to install Version 7 trial but getting nowhere fast, the install bar seems to get all the way to the end but then reports ‘the specified file cannot be found’, when you click ok the app is uninstalled.

I have raised this with support and whereas initially responses were both, I’ve receive no further assistance since my email to them last week. They’ve the install logs and originally reported that the problem is related to .net

Having ran the .net repair tool and installed a hotfix which didn’t sort it I decided on removing it and performing a fresh install, but to no avail

I can see no errors appearing in the Windows Event logs so now.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi Mark,

What is the Windows Server you're trying to install Veeam to? Have you tried using any other clean OS for this? Do you observe the same symptoms?

Thanks!

For flawless installs I always recommend installing on the clean OS, as this is how we test the product.

Hi,

Installing on Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1

Although a clean install is ideal, I did not have that luxury. Maybe the reporting process of the failed install should be looked because serving such an ambiguous message is rather difficult to investigate. It's a bit like saying your Car doesn't slide in the dry

Thanks

Yes, it's hard to say what happened. Do you see any clues in the install log file that can be found in the %temp% folder?

Nothing obvious to me, support are the ones who suggested it was a .net issue

I'm happy to copy/paste from the relevant log file

Unfortunately, the team behind these forums cannot read logs, so it's better to continue working with the support engineer, as he might have some ideas on how to further assist you.

Ok thanks.

Lets hope support come back to me because it's been seven days since I responded to them which is poor by anyone's standards

The delay could be caused by the fact that you're on a trial version. Here is our support policy document that covers every aspect of SLA provided in great details. Anyway, your ticket ID would allow us to check what is the current status for this issue. Thanks!
