Virtual Appliance with VCenter 2.5
Hi,
I am using VCenter 2.5 with ESX 3.5 U2. I saw on the FAQ that HOTADD in VA is supposed to work with 3.X and above. Is that in reference to the ESX version or the VCenter version.
Also in the 5.0 User Guide it says that if you have below VCenter 4.0, that you must make a helper machine called
VEEAM_BACKUP_SERVER(VCB-HELPER)
This doesn't seem to do anything and doesn't warn me.
I saw the list of issues that can cause HOTADD not to work and have verified none exist. Think it might be a problem with the version.
Thanks

Re: Virtual Appliance with VCenter 2.5
Hi, 3.x is in reference to the ESX version, vCenter 2.5 is fine. Most likely, you did not create helper VM with the correct name. Read carefully what that UG paragraph explains - you need to use actual host name. Thanks!

Re: Virtual Appliance with VCenter 2.5
I previously had the helper named as
NAME_OF_BACKUP_SERVER_IN_VCENTER(VCB-HELPER)
but I changed it to
WINDOWS_HOST_NAME_OF_BACKUP_SERVER(VCB-HELPER)
I still have the same issue. It takes the snapshot of the machine and then reconfigures the server that Veeam Backup is installed on. It will do this several times and add the same harddrive (that it is backing up) to that machine.
I unchecked failover to network.
Thanks

From your description, it sounds like hotadd happens normally, as it should. I am not sure where you see the issue. Do you want to open a support case, as this might be much easier do just to a webex session and review everything in live.

I get
<<
Transports: [hotadd]] failed because of the following errors:
Server error: End of file
>>
I am currently using the demo (in the process of submitting a PO to purchase the product). Can I still get support?
