Hi!
We have a issue with the following setup:
Site1:
Located in "subnet A"
Veeam BR server v 8.0.0.2084
A backup job created at Veeam BR server
VM's: The site 2 ESXi host VMs.
Storage: Repository at Veeam BR server
Guest processing enabled
Site 2:
Located in a "subnet B" (routed).
Standalone host VMware ESXi 5.1.0.799733 with local storage.
The job finish with VIX error at Guest processing stage (the machine is powered on)
2015-12-16 00:03:54 :: Unable to truncate Exchange transaction logs. Details: Cannot run program [C:\Users\ADMINI~1.SAN\AppData\Local\Temp\{f80adaa1-fae8-44f9-880f-5d45f0d44e58}].
VIX Error: The virtual machine needs to be powered on Code: 3006
Test of Guest processing is successful via VIX.
The same errors occurs with at similar setup with ESXi v 6.
If I setup a local Veeam BR server at site2 and create and run a job at that server it works.
I raised a case with Veeam support (ID# 01061135) a couple of weeks ago. (This was before we had the setup with ESXi 5.1 server.) The answer was to upgrade to the latest ESXi 6 version.
But since we have the same error with a 5.1 server it must be something else.
Someone who has a clue? Is this setup impossible?

Re: VIX error
Christian, this could be caused by different subnets. I'd let support investigate this further.
Btw, why VIX is used, if you have routing configured between sites? Are VMs from site 2 accessible from backup server (are you able to connect to ADMIN$ share on them?)?

Re: VIX error
No I'm not able to access the guest VM's admin share. We are a service provider and have no routing to the customers guest VM's. The ESXi host mgmt nic resides in a mgmt network/vlan.

Re: VIX error
Does the account specified for guest processing has administrative rights on the VM? Also, could you check whether VMware Tools return correct VM power state (this can be done via MOB, for example)?

Re: VIX error
Here is a quick guide on how to check it via Managed Object Browser (MOB) > http://www.viktorious.nl/2013/12/02/pow ... t-browser/
