Hello,
I'm always surprised what user's can find.
While logging in to the EM web frontend as admin I can search for any backed-up object.
Doing the same as user (role "portal user") I cannot see explicitly one VM - same behaviour as the user reported.
We did a vCenter upgrade from 7.x to 8.0.2.00300 ... veeam build version is 12.1.2.172
Have you any idea what's the reason for this effect?
Maybe something very simple so I don't have to stress the support team with this "really tiny disturbance".
Thank You!
Stefan

Re: VM backups not seen as user via EM web frontend
Hello Stefan,
This behavior is unexpected, so please raise a support case. The team will investigate the debug logs and escalate it if the bug is confirmed. Please do not forget to share the case id with us. Thank you!

Promised - I will do so. But it hasn't a high priority on my site. So it has to wait for a good while ...

Re: VM backups not seen as user via EM web frontend
Hi Dima,
the issue was "homemade" and could be identified by veeam support (case 07350109).
The crucial hint was to check the user scope in EM configuration.
After checking the EM role for a "portal user" group, I found the following:
The portal user group was "limited" to 1 vcenter for productive VMs (we have four vcenters).
All VMs are running on this vcenter, but the vcenter was updated/fixed more times by VMware support due to errors after upgrading from 7 u3 to 8.x ...
In the same time I upgraded veeam infrastructure ... somewhere in this processes seems to lay an ID issue - some VMs weren't recognized starting at a not identified time.
After resetting the scope to "all objects" I can find the VMs as user,
Today I will reset the scope to the dedicated vcenter.
And when the VMs will not disappear over night ;^) I will close the case as solved.
So long,
Stefan
