VM Copy FileAlreadyExistsFault
Hi,
Doing a VM Copy from one ESXi to another I'm getting this error on all of the VM's being copied. I can't seem to find a config option or anything in the job that says to overwrite. Any ideas?
Thanks,
SteveF

Re: VM Copy FileAlreadyExistsFault
Hello Steve,
There is no overwrite possibility, you should remove all conflicting items on the target side first.

Re: VM Copy FileAlreadyExistsFault
By the way, could you please tell me if you are using VM Copy job to replicate VMs or it was just a one time operation? If not, then have you considered using Replication jobs?

Re: VM Copy FileAlreadyExistsFault
Hi Alexey,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
I'm using this as a DR mechanism. It used to overwrite. The only thing I can thing that changed is the target host was upgraded to 4.1.0 build 381591 but the source hasn't been upgraded, yet. It's still at 4.1.0 build 320137. It's not very automated if I have to delete the target side everytime the backup occurs. Bummer.
I'll look at replication. I looked at it before and it didn't do what I needed at the time. I'll look at it again.
Thanks,
SteveF

Steve,
In addition to replication job capabilities review please take a look at our sticky F.A.Q. topic which covers all basic questions/topics.
