VM templates can be processed in the Network Mode Job Only

Hi All:

I tried to backup a few VM templates via san mode, however, i received a message indicating that they can only be processed via network mode.

I can backup via the iscsi san for other VM's with no issues, is this a limitation of veam or is there some setting that I am missing.


Converting the template to a vM allows me to back it up in san mode.

Michael/Stephane, this is actually documented right in UI, on the same page where you define template backup settings (see Advanced job settings). Templates are not regular VMs and they cannot be backed up by regular means, we only support templates backup in the network mode.

Thanks for the quick reply, I must have missed it, wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was doing wrong. No Big deal, its just as easy to convert the template to a vm and back it up that way, if it ever became ultra critical.

Michael, as far as I know some other customers also choose to create separate job that backups templates only (in network mode). May be it will be better option for you.
