VMs not listed under the File tab in enterprise manager

Post by edfops »

I have several VMs not being listed under the files tab in Enterprise Manager.

The backup servers are included in the configuration (and polling successfully)
Guest file indexing is enabled for the jobs in question.
I am using a portal administrator account so it is not permissions related.

What else could I possibly check to get this going?

Do you see these VMs in other tabs (VMs)?

What about the corresponding backup jobs sessions? Do they have a successful status?

[MERGED] No VM's to display

Post by mcrdr85 »

I'm trying to get the file restore from the enterprise manager to work. When I try to find a VM I get no vm's to display. I have installed Search Server and changed the user for the crawl. I have installed the VM search server. I have turned on guest file indexing on one job to to test it. I have ran the job twice now. I have done the "sync catalog now" and I cant get this to work. I look in the VBRCatalog on the veeam sever and in index\machines the VM file is blank. its just says [Version 7]

Can anyone shed some light on this??? YES i am using the enterprise edition....

Thanks Chris

Chris, could you also check the corresponding backup jobs sessions - do you have any warnings regarding guest indexing or other related messages there?

To close my loop on this, the fix was disabling and re-enabling guest index on every job. Once a successful backup took place, files would show up for only the restore points since it was fixed.

Not perfect but workable for my situation.
