I see that VMware released Patch 4 which mentions it resolves the CBT issue with expanding virtual disks. Does anyone know if the reset of CBT is still required for previously affected machines that have not been reset yet, or will the patch automatically take care of this?

Mike, as far as I understand, the patch fixes CBT, so no need to reset it, however you will need to perform an active full for all the affected VMs, since existing backups might be corrupt.
