VMware restore to multiple AWS Accounts

Post by doxepin »

Hi,
If I backup multiple VMWare machines on premises to AWS S3 buckets, can I restore these backups as EC2 instances in multiple AWS Accounts? I know it is possible in a single account, but our infrastructure requires to deploy these machines in 4-5 AWS accounts.
Thanks

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

AWS account selection is the second step in the wizard... or did I misunderstood the question?

As Hannes' mentioned, the scenario is fully supported: you just need to add all accounts to backup console and select required one during restore. Within restore wizard you can choose only one account, so in order to execute restore to different accounts you will need to run several restore processes (one per target account). Thanks!

If accounts' configs are fixed on each restore run (target VPCs, Subnets etc. are permanent), you could write a powershell script, which would loop over each aws config and invoke restore for selected backups. Check this section for more info. Thanks!
