[V13] VSA Full /var/log - How to purge?

Post by BrianBuchanan » 1 person likes this post

Hello,

I have case #07939722 open for a completely unrelated reason but during that I received errors referencing /var/log and when I ran the webui updates it also had errors about /var/log. I enabled SSH and logged in and

Code: Select all

[veeamadmin@veeam01 log]$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
devtmpfs 4.0M 0 4.0M 0% /dev
tmpfs 32G 33M 32G 1% /dev/shm
tmpfs 13G 1.3G 12G 10% /run
/dev/mapper/systemvol-system 45G 19G 27G 41% /
/dev/sda2 1014M 188M 827M 19% /boot
/dev/mapper/systemvol-var 45G 465M 45G 2% /var
/dev/mapper/dbvol-veeametc 5.0G 73M 5.0G 2% /etc/veeam
/dev/mapper/systemvol-tmp 10G 106M 9.9G 2% /tmp
/dev/sda1 511M 7.1M 504M 2% /boot/efi
/dev/mapper/systemvol-vartmp 3.0G 55M 3.0G 2% /var/tmp
/dev/mapper/dbvol-veeamdata 127G 5.1G 122G 4% /var/lib/veeamdata
/dev/mapper/datavol-veeamrepo 217G 158G 60G 73% /var/lib/veeam
/dev/mapper/datavol-varlog 30G 30G 268K 100% /var/log
/dev/mapper/systemvol-home 10G 122M 9.9G 2% /home
/dev/mapper/datavol-audit 3.0G 94M 2.9G 4% /var/log/audit
tmpfs 6.3G 0 6.3G 0% /run/user/1000
tmpfs 6.3G 0 6.3G 0% /run/user/2000
and it's 27-GB in /var/log/VeeamBackup

Any tips on purging /var/log/VeeamBackup? Should I keep working with this ticket where I stumbled onto this or open a new issue specific ticket? Is this a situation where I need to grow the disks for the appliance? (The vm was created with two 250-GB disks)

Thanks!

Hi, Brian.

Yeah it's best is to let our support help you purge the logs. Your support engineer will ask if a separate ticket is needed, frankly speaking we're not aware of their processes and procedures from that perspective.

And if I were you, I would indeed redeploy VSA with the recommended disk sizes depending on your environment size, as currently you have bare minimum which is only good for a quick eval but not for serious production use.

Thanks

Are there any larger than expected files there? Can run du -g and see which files are consuming the most space. For sure make a case with Support though to see if maybe there is some verbose setting on a particular log/set of logs.
