VSS Control

Post by lreese »

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new to networking and the sorts. Recently on a clients backup I have been receiving a VSS Control error. The backup is successful, but the error comes saying failure to freeze guest or something of the likes. What would be a good first step to troubleshoot something like this?

Thank you.

Hi Logan, the first step would be to contact technical support to take a look at the error itself and the job debug logs. All technical issues should be addressed to support directly. You can also search the forums for other occurrences of similar error messages to find out typical reasons. The fact that the job completed successfully most likely means you have the job configured to ignore application-aware processing issues, to have at least a successful crash-consistent backup.
