Wake-on-lan for backup proxies?
Looking to move our proxies to physical machines due to the abuse they commit against the ESX clusters during health checks etc and am wondering if it's possible to get the proxies configured to WOL and have Veeam start up the proxies as needed - they spend at least half of every day functionally idle so it'd be nice to not run the fans all day for no reason.

Hello,
I assume that you are looking for pre- and post-job scripts... https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=100
You can use whatever wake on lan tool you have. I recommend to test it first that it really works before trying to run it as pre-script.
Please also see the notes of the link I posted above.
Best regards,
Hannes

Not exactly - as I understand it those scripts are run on the machines to be backed up. I'm talking about waking up the backup proxies themselves.

Not really - there are 2 sets of scripts - pre-post entire Job and pre-post Snapshot for each machine. First are executed on the VBR server, latter uploaded and ran at the machines.
Pre-Post Job Scripts
Pre-Post Snapshot Scripts
So yeah, script that runs before the job and handles Proxy power should do the trick!

Ah, cool. Does this script run from the Veeam server itself or is it executed elsewhere?

Locally on VBR server, that is!
