Was looking at an update error on a Veeam Infrastructure Appliance and...

Post by mikeely »

Found this:

Code: Select all

     CGroup: /system.slice/veeam-updater.service
             └─1413 /usr/bin/dotnet /opt/VeeamUpdater/Veeam.Updater.dll
At first all I could say was 🤦‍♂️ and this was after I had mentioned to my team that the Veeam approach to the Linux stuff in V13 was very "think-windows" in approach.

Veeam folks: no. Just no. One of the many, many advantages of moving to Linux is moving away from DLL hell. This is not the way. Good grief! Build Linux applications, don't lazily port over all the bugs that Windows creates.

Yeah, this thing is absolutely rife with Windows files being run by dotnet. Ugh :(
