Web vulnerability scanner for SureBackup

Post by aldvm » 1 person likes this post

Hello community,

maybe some of you has implemented web vulnerability scanner in SureBackup? If yes, can you share more details. Maybe in the market I can find web vulnerability scanner which support or compatible with Veeam SureBackup?

Hi,

How exactly are you going to use that scanner? I mean what would be a subject to scan? Please elaborate.

Thank you.

I think what you can do is poweron a liveCD like BackTrack and run all the vuln tests against a VM powered on in the virtual lab. The idea is good as you can do any "evil" operation against the lab VM instead of the real one.
There's nothing "compatible" with SureBackup, as I guess you mean a scanner that can be setup as a test script inside the surebackup configuration. Those tests are too complex probably to be automated in some way...

Subject will be web sites in servers, I don't know if web vulnerability scanner can be used not for this purpose. Scanning production server not a good idea, so will be perfect solution scan in SureBackup environment.

Oh, must have missed the "web" word, sorry :-) now I see. I agree with Luca - you need to place your scanner inside your lab. There is also a successor of BackTrack called Kali, which is also distributed as an image for VMware. In regards to automatization - the best option would be to write test-automatization scripts and place them inside scanner-vm so they can be triggered by SureBackup job scripts.
