What mode should I use? What is this agentless backup mode?
I am backing up a domain control while the DC is running. Is the only I need to do is to start a Veeam backup job?

Hello,
You need to make sure that you've enabled "Application-Aware Image Processing". In case of agentless mode being used, Veeam Backup & Replication 5.0 uses VI API to enable backup to ESX servers and restore from ESX servers. Agentless mode is used within ESXi hosts by default.
