What lvl of authentication does a user need for backup?

We use our Primary domain admin at the moment, but want to move away from that account being used for backing up. Does our newly created veeam backup user need to be a given the domain administrator status as well for backing up purposes? Hope for a quick answer on this so we can continue getting everything ready to go . Thanks for any answers on this!
