Which disks to use for a self-built repository

Post by dellock6 »

Since I'm seeing several times people having problems with storage or servers using off-the-shelf disks, I think these links could be useful in choosing which disks to use:
http://blog.backblaze.com/2014/01/21/wh ... uld-i-buy/
http://blog.backblaze.com/2013/11/12/ho ... ives-last/
http://blog.backblaze.com/2013/12/04/en ... liability/

Backblaze is a online backup company that designs its own storage pods, and made some large and accurate studies on their disks. Having more than 27.000 disks, I think the informations coming out from those posts can be interesting.

Note: we at Veeam have no relationship with Backblaze or any of the disk vendors quoted in those articles, nor we do not promote any brand . But I personally thought it would have been useful to advise you all about those studies.
