I'm sure this has been addressed, maybe my searches on the forum are just missing it. Is there any issue with doing an in-place Win 2008R2 to 2012R2 VB&R server upgrade? We discovered today in trying to restore some files from a 2012R2 vm with dedupe that we needed to be on 2012R2. Just looking for the simplest path as long as there are no issues with it. I know generally speaking a fresh build of a Windows server is always preferred to in-place upgrade to a newer version.
We are on VB&R 8.0.0.2021 and it looks to be using SQL Express 9.0.5000 Express (SQL 2005). Doing a quick Google search, it appears SQL 2005 is not supported on Win 2012R2. Should we first do an update to SQL Express and then update Windows OS to 2012R2?
Any recommendations appreciated, thanks!

Hi, what about just installing B&R on the new 2012R2 server, and restoring a configuration backup there? This is probably the simplest way, plus you still be able to continue using the existing server if things go wrong. Thanks!

Yeah I suppose we could do that. What about the database and repo volumes that are part of the current server? Just detach them from the SAN and reattach them with the same drive letters or similar? My main concern is to not break any of the jobs.

Configuration database content will be restored from the configuration backup into the new SQL database of the new install, so don't worry about it. But if you backup server also carries a backup repository role, then yes - you will need to reattach the volumes to it at the same letters.
