Hi
I am planning to transform 2 Windows 2000 DC (one with Exchange 2000 on it) to virtual machine and replicate them with Veeam ?
What is the way to proceed since the VSS option is not working with Windows 2000 ?
Do i need to upgrade the servers to Windows 2003 ?
If so can i replicate the Exchange 2000 database if it's running on Windows 2003 ?
Thanks

Re: Windows 2000 DC and Exchange 2000
Hello, I would definitely recommend upgrading all servers to 2003 before even considering hot backup and replication. DC and Exchange are not the types of applications that tolerate crash-consistent states well.

Re: Windows 2000 DC and Exchange 2000
In my scenario (production server ESXi) Backup server is ESX
The replication is done every 4 hours. There are 2 DC on VM (a third is a physical one)
ESXi---->ESX
If i failover one of the VM (let's say a DC). I can run on the replica for a period of time. How can i reverse the the failover and return the live DC VM on the ESXi server without comprosmising the Active Directory replication ?
Thanks,

Re: Windows 2000 DC and Exchange 2000
Alain, it is impossible to perform VM failover/failback/restore in the multi-DC environment correctly without leveraging VSS. You can review this blog post for more information: http://www.veeammeup.com/2008/08/vss-an ... mware.html.
