Windows 2019 with data deduplication volume

Post by jfrobs »

Hello, i have a new Windows 2019 on my hyper V server with deduplication on data volume and i would like to know if they are a BestPractice for Backup this with Veeam 9.5 ?

For information :

Veeam is installed on physical serveur HpStorage with windows 2012 R2 server with deduplication service installed but not configured.

Obviously I can't restore files...i must upgrade my server from 2012R2 to 2019 for work fine ??

Thx a lot

Hi Jfrobs!

You can just set a Mount Server with Windows 2019 for that repository that has your backup file on it. Make sure that mount server has Windows Deduplication feature enabled too. That will do the trick!

You can use any existing Windows Server 2019 machines as a mount server! As far as I am aware, Microsoft doesn't support WS2019 running as a Guest on 2012R2 host. Worth double-checking.
