Windows Server 2008 and 64bit OS support for Backup Console

Hello,

Veeam Backup is a great product. We use the "network backup" mode to backup our vmware infrastructure.
We would upgrade to Windows Server 2008 on our backup server, is Veeam Backup Console supported without VCB on Windows Server 2008?

Hello Reto, no - right now Windows 2008 is not supported on Veeam Backup console. And it really "does not work on 2008", no just "not tested on 2008". Windows 2008 has new functionality that prevents some of our components from installing and functioning correctly. However, good news is - since this has been high demand, we will be releasing an update soon that will make Windows 2008 supported. Thank you.

We are purchasing Veeam Backup for our 5 host ESX environment. Though not supported all of our testing of the software was performed on a VM with Windows Server 2008 Enterprise.

Hello, this release will actually support both Windows 2008 and 64bit operating systems. I can send the beta code to whoever is interested mid-next week (cannot do it earlier due to the public holidays).

Just to clarify for everyone else - there is no new functionality except support for Windows 2008 and 64bit OS support, and vSphere compatibility (still in the works because RTM just became available). If you are specifically interested to test Windows 2008 and 64bit OS support, please let me know. Other than that, you will not find anything interesting in the new version.

Hello Steve, we did RTM 3.1 code as planned - yesterday, on May 27th.

Current customers on maintenance should be receiving download link tomorrow, on May 29th.
Official release for general public will be next week. We are having a bit of overlap with Veeam Monitor 4.0 release
