Here is a question from the cheap seats!
I've been using Veeam for years and I have years of offsite backups now... some going back a good 3-4 versions of Veeam. Lets say for some crazy reason I need to go back 2+ years to say Veeam version <4 backups. Without going through the trouble (don't have the time), what do you think would happen (running the most current 6.5 build). You think they will import right in and let me restore?

Re: Years old Archived Veeam backups?
Todd, you can just try but we always had backward compatibility with backups produced by earlier versions, so I'm almost sure you will get it successfully imported and restored. Thanks.

[MERGED] backup compatibility with 5.0.2
Hi,
I am new to Veeam.
current we are running on Veeam 5.0.2 in 3 sites.
if we upgrade Veeam 5 to 6.5 in one site and we want to restore of Guest VM backup by Veem 6.5 with 5.0.2 version.
does it work or do we have any problems.
thank you,
ven

Re: Years old Archived Veeam backups?
Yes, we are talking about backward compatibility only. Backup files format evolves from version to version and previous Veeam B&R versions may not be aware of the changes.
