Hi all
We want to use our EntraID accounts as administrators for VDC in the future. An IT-person in our company has two EntraID accounts typically, a useraccount and an admin account. Only the admin account has the required permissions and privileges to manage environments or services like VDC, the useraccount acts as a standard user and cannot have any IT-administrative permissions. The challenge here is, that only our standard useraccount has a mailbox, the admin account does not have a mailbox nor an email address.
If I want to add an additional EntraID account as VDC admin, this admin will get an email for the initial login, if I understand that right? That will not be possible in our case due to the missing email address and mailbox. Is there an option to add EntraID accounts as admins in VDC without the necessity of having an email address/mailbox?

Hi,
The email isn't necessary for account activation/usage, they can still go to https://cloud.veeam.com to sign in even if they don't have an email address as we match the UPN

Hi Michael, thank you for your fast reply! Maybe I don't see how I should do this at the moment. In my opinion, there are two ways to add new users to VDC:
1. Invite a user by email address
2. add an EntraID group to VDC
option 1 is not possible for us, as discussed, therefore option 2 is the only way to go:
For any reason, I'm not able to create a group. For VDC, I currently have licensed only SalesForce backup, no EntraID backup or any other service. Is this maybe the reason, that I cannot create a group to add new admins?

Hi, when you type in the email address, although it is labelled as email address it's actually a UPN
so it'll still work
The Entra ID Group element is still rolling out so this'll get enabled shortly for all tenants.
