Can i do my normal daily work under windows during file back
Dear Support,
is it possible to do my normal daily work during a file backup with Veeam Endpoint Backup FREE 1.5 ?
Especially its interesting if a safe file backup for open outlook mail boxes ( .pst, .ost ) will work without any problems ?
Means also is it possible to do a file backup with Veeam Endpoint Backup FREE 1.5 for open files ?
For me it's also valid if the last saved version version of the open file will be taken for the file backup process.
kind regards
Andreas

Hi Andreas,
Veeam Endpoint Backup us leveraging VSS to backup data on your Windows volume, so it should be fine. Please note that OST file is excluded from MS VSS snapshot by default.
Can you please tell if you face any issues with the current backup mode?
Thanks!

Hi Vitaliy,
thanks very much for your quick answer.
Before i will try the planned scenarios i would like to have a hint that it should work.
Can you give me a short explanation why VSS is the solution.
Does this technique means there a saved versions before a file will be taken into edit/open mode and saved versions in between will be take for file backup ?

Hi Andreas,
A friendly reminder is to check that ‘Backup Throttling’ is enabled at Control Panel > Settings. This would ensure backup job won’t consume a lot of resources while running and affect your user experience. Thanks.
