extend class Veeam.Virt.Extensions.VMware.VMGUEST in SCSM
Hi,
We would like to add some custom properties to the Veeam.Virt.Extensions.VMware.VMGUEST class in Service Manager.
I've imported both Veeam.Virt.Extensions.VMware.BaseDiscovery.mpb and Veeam.Virt.Extensions.VMware.Library.mpb management packs in SCSM Authoring tool but, i'm not able to find the Veeam.Virt.Extensions.VMware.VMGUEST class.
Is this because Veeam.Virt.Extensions.VMware.Library.mpb is a MP bundle?
Has anyone been able to create some extentions on this classe?

Hi Charlez,
Adding custom properties is not possible because they are part of the management pack bundle that is sealed. Could you please let us know what properties you'd like to be added?
Thanks

We are building a CMDB in SCSM and custom fields are related to patching information (patching windows & times etc)

I'm asking because we might be able to add certain properties in future MP versions if they are related to VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Veeam Backup & Replication monitoring. What particular information you are looking for? Any details are appreciated.

I'll need to look into the ones who are related and come back on that.
A better sollution would be, not putting these MP's in a bundle. So that we can add our own extensions.

It does not matter whether it is located in a bundle or not. All the MPs and MP bundles are sealed and won't work even if you modify a copy of a MP - this will break the references.
Thanks

I'm not trying to store the extensions in the same MP, but in a seperate one. All other MP's (for example from Microsoft) are also sealed and extensions are saved in a seperate MP, but those are not in a bundle...

a property holding the assignd tags on virtual machines would be handy in next release.
Also not putting the Veeam.Virt.Extensions.VMware.Library mp not in a bundle.
@wishr
Should i send this as a feature request or can you add this to the list?

Hi Charlez,
Could you please let us know what's the use-case for the property?
Regarding restructuring the bundles, thank you for the request. We'll discuss what can be done in the next product versions.
Thanks

The tags in vcenter are used in Veeam backup to set backup type.

We would use this in SCSM to populate CMDB.
