I keep seeing/receiving the following alert on our SCOM 2007 SP1 Console:
"nworks vCenter: License compliance alert Alert Description
Source: ausvc001 License inventory is not compliant. Licenses are overused
Path: vaussccs002.americas.ppdi.local\nworks Virtual Infrastructure Collector\ausvc001
Alert Rule: nworks vCenter: License compliance alert
Created: 11/1/2011 9:31:33 AM
Knowledge: View additional knowledge...
Resolution:
Review your current license key and replace it with the correct one, if needed.
Causes:
License inventory is not compliant. Licenses are overused
Summary:
This event records that the inventory is not license compliant."
I've checked the nWorks Enterprise Manager console and the licensing details look fine, nothing about any compliance issues.
Total Sockets = 176
Used Sockets = 130
What am I missing?
Regards,
Sven

Re: License compliance alert: license inventory not complia
Hi Sven,
This alert is not about your nworks license - it is about your VMWARE license.
Looking at the Path in the alert, this refers to a VMware server ausvc001, which I guess is your vCenter server?
This vCenter is logging the event License Inventory Not Compliant. You have some issue with the VMware licenses installed on that vCenter, and the number of hosts and/or the licensed features of those hosts.
You should check the license configuration in that vCenter.
Meantime, I will make sure our Knowledge Base is updated for that alert, just to make clear it is VMware licensing, not nworks licensing!
Hope that helps,
Cheers,
Alec

Re: License compliance alert: license inventory not complia
Thanks Sven!
And I've already updated our KB article to make it clearer that this is a VMware license alert, not an nworks one. This KB will ship in our next MP update, 5.7, very soon!
