Dear Community,
I am not seeing the Veeam Agent for Windows Backup Jobs in SCOM, but in Veeam Backup and Replication they are visible.
Did I miss some configuration or is this just not (yet) supported?
Cheers,
Thomas

Re: VEEAM Agent for Windows Backup Jobs
Hi Thomas,
This is not yet supported and not only because it's a relatively new product. In SCOM Management Pack development we should always think about scalability, we cannot just bring all the restore points into the SCOM because in 1K VMs infrastructure this would be thousands and thousands of items constantly changing with each backup and retention policy runs. In our Backup MP we use datasets for restore points, but this datastructure does not always work well for all objects and could significantly raise Data Warehouse storage requirements. So we would definitely like to have Agents supported but we need to think about the right way to collect and store information and on how to reduce its footprint.
So we are in the process of figuring out the right way to implement Veeam Agents support in SCOM. In fact, you could significantly help us with that
Could you tell us if Veeam Agents for Windows is installed on servers which you also monitor with SCOM agent? If not, how many agent backup jobs you are seeing in the console? How many Veeam Agents deployments do you have in your environemnt? Do you want to see the Agent backup job to receive an alert if it failed or for some other monitoring purposes?
I would really appreciate your feedback on using Veeam Agents for Windows in your environment.
And thank you very much for being interested in Veeam Agent for Windows technology and we are looking forward to improve its integration throughout the portfolio of Veeam products.

Re: VEEAM Agent for Windows Backup Jobs
Hi Sergey,
thank you very much for your Feedback.
To answer your questions:
Could you tell us if Veeam Agents for Windows is installed on servers which you also monitor with SCOM agent?
Yes they are moninoted
If not, how many agent backup jobs you are seeing in the console?
anyway: 6 plus one that is just always running and creating resotre points: sql server log backup
How many Veeam Agents deployments do you have in your environemnt?
currently 5 servers and 1 workstation
Do you want to see the Agent backup job to receive an alert if it failed or for some other monitoring purposes?
yes that would be great
Also an adapted "Protected VMs" report would be awesome. It should not only check all VMware/Hyper-V VMs but also all OpsMgr Agent Managed Servers, consolidate them into a single list, eliminating duplicates, and then create the "Protected VMs" and "Unprotected VMs" report (maybe the name will have to change then to something like "Protected OSEs")
Cheers,
Thomas
Edit: only the servers are monitored with scom agent, not workstations (probably getting adding more workstations in the future but also without scom agent)
