alarm isn't suppressed when agents do backup to repository
Hi everybody,
our windows agents (managed by B&R) are using a veeam repository which is stored on a seperate vmfs datastore. When the agents (policy) are doing their backups, datastore would get stressed and disk latency would increase. I know that I could throttle the traffic but I don't have to. The thing is that veeam one triggers the alarm for disk latency allthough I have suppressed it for backup activities (checkbox "Suppress when certain task is performed").
I guess that this is only valid for jobs which are done directly by B&R and not for agent jobs which are run using backup policy. Anyway, I would like to suppress the warning when agents are doing backups.
Thanks!

Re: alarm isn't suppressed when agents do backup to reposito
Hi Michael,
I think you spotted the issue. Veeam ONE doesn't suppress alarms during backups run by local and policy.
We will think how to manage suppression for these kinds of backups.
Thanks!

Hi Nikita,
one year has gone by and we still face this issue. Any news on that?
Thanks!

Hi Michael,
Unfortunately the feature wasn't included in v9.5u4, however, we have it in the roadmap for the next versions.
Thanks!

Re: alarm isn't suppressed when agents do backup to repository
Hi Michael,
I am re-reading topics that I marked as a "feature request" and went through your case once again.
Have a question about your VMFS datastore,is it used as an actual datastore for some virtual machines AND as a backup repository for computers(agents) at the same time?
Thanks

Re: alarm isn't suppressed when agents do backup to repository
Hi Nikita,
thanks for your question. I'm using this VMFS datastore exclusively for backup purposes which means that I've only mounted one vmdk to our proxy. That's it. In which direction are you thinking or what was the purpose of the question?

Re: alarm isn't suppressed when agents do backup to repository
I am working on the list of features for the next release and need to better understand your case.
Since the particular VMFS datastore is used only for the storage of backups you can either exclude it from alarms serving VMFS datastores serving VMs.

Re: alarm isn't suppressed when agents do backup to repository
Does it mean the improvement won't be shipped or is your suggestion just a workaround for the moment?

Not in the next release as the configuration doesn't seem popular.
And the workaround also helps, yes.

Re: alarm isn't suppressed when agents do backup to repository
Veeam is still not able to suppress alarms for agent jobs that back up to a repository?
I am encountering this same issue for a particular backup job, with Veeam 12.1. During backup, I get bombarded by email alerts (Reset/resolved, Error, Reset/resolved, Error...) for the 'Possible ransomware activity' alarm even though I have ticked the alarm's checkbox to suppress it during Veeam Backup activity. This VM uses the agent, was manually added and is managed by B&R.
