Audit report who logged on to VBR console

Post by BennyDC »

Hi All,

For audit we need to keep track on who did successful logon or failed and when on our VBR Consoles.
Is there a way to pull or send Logs reports...

Thanks,
Benny

Hello Benny,
Thank you for the request. I have been digging around, and it seems we do not have this functionality yet in Veeam ONE. But you have it by default working on Enterprise Manager: There are additional logs you can query if you like under the C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup\Satellites\ folder.

However, I 100% agree this should be part of Veeam ONE, not just the successful logins like in EM, but fails as well, and even across everything VONE monitors today (VBR, VBM365, VBCloud, etc.)

Take this as a feature request noted. Hope the EM workaround helps you for now.

Hello Benny,

Are you interested in text log files or a regular Veeam ONE report for audit purposes? Do you need to track successful or failed logins only or maybe there is something else?

For example, we have Backup Infrastructure Audit report which does not contain user activity but rather infrastructure changes.
It seems to me that we could probably try to add such events there or create a dedicated audit report. In the latter case, it would be interesting to know if anything else would be useful other than keeping track of logins.

What do you think?

Thanks

Dear Jorge,
we have just started with a test phase with "Backup Infrastructure Audit" and "Backup Objects Change Tracking" . We have the same need as Benny to conserve logs for auditing check as below:
- who login and logout in VBR and Veeam365 console
- who create or delete jobs on VBR and Veeam365
- who change jobs on VBR and Veeam365 and what change
- who start a recovery and what as recovered (VMs or Files)

Hello Flavio,
This request has been noted. We do have some of this already, but not others as it is not exposed yet, like Veeam365 jobs changes, for example.

Let me take all these use-cases, discuss them internally, and come back with some answers. But yes, all makes sense to me really.

Thank you!

Dear Jorge,
we cannot use SSRS server because we use MS-SQL Express as default of Veeam ONE setup. We cannot use MS-SQL Standard version.
Is it possible to have report in CVS format in an other way ?

Hello Flavio,

SSRS is not a requirement in general but it is required to support other formats: if Veeam ONE Web Client is integrated with the Microsoft SQL Reporting Services server, the following additional report formats are available: CSV (comma delimited), XML, MS PowerPoint, TIFF, MHTML, and Data Feed.

Without SSRS it is possible to export only these

Excel is not a CSV but it probably can fit.

Thanks

Dear all,
we use VeeamONE with SQL Express so if i understand well is not possible use SSRS server. SSRS server need SQL Standard license. So we cannot save in CVS Format the reports.

Our logging system is based on a software agent installed on VeeamONE server. The agent read every day report files saved by VeeamONE in folder "C:\VeeamONE_Report" and the agent support simple files like TXT, CSV, XML; So i have an other question, is it possible to have a report in excel format without images and graphs and leave it very clear ?

Regards.

Hello Flavio,

I've installed VONE v11a + SQL Express + SSRS Express in my lab. All is working well so far. Please check.
