FR: Enhanced vMotion Compatibility (EVC)

Post by orb »

Hi

I was a bit surprised the software doesn't take into account VMware EVC mode in the capacity management, host reporting or alerting. It would be helpful to help been to reconcile a cluster when you have nodes of a different generation.

Now, I have no other choice to fall back to PowerShell and rvtools :D

Hello,
can you maybe explain which role vMotion plays for capacity management? Which reports and alerts are you asking for? Can you maybe provide more details what you are missing?

Best regards,
Hannes

PS: sorry if my question sounds dumb, but I don't get the context.

Hi Hannes,

no dumb question here, here is my second chance to be more specific :)

During a Veeam One onboarding, the customer had a cluster with different CPU generation but without EVC enabled. It would have been nice to receive a notification about the risks and as such be able to have available in reports such information per cluster, host and VM to plan remediation.
