Hyper-V Low disk space on guest VM alarm setup
Hi Vitaly,
I would like to monitor free disk space on Hyper-V VMs, especially I need alarm when free space on logical drive is lower then some value (e.g. 10 GB).
I found there "Guest disk space" predefined alarm template for VMWare, but it looks like there is no similar template for Hyper-V.
Is there any other way how to setup (e.g. custom alarm) this function for Hyper-V?
Thanks for help,
Tomas

Re: Hyper-V Low disk space on guest VM alarm setup
Hi Tomas,
Unfortunately it`s not possible in the current version, however, we have it in our roadmap and the feature is going to be implemented in future releases.
Thanks!

Tomas, do you mostly run Windows or Linux VMs for which you would like to have this data for?

Hi Vitaliy, we want to use it now mostly for Windows 2008 R2 Servers.

Ok, thanks! The reason why I asked that is if you want to query this data, you need to provide admin credentials to the VM to execute a WMI query. While with Windows VMs it is pretty much clear on what to do, Linux VMs should be handled in a different way.

Dear Veeam,
It something changed for Hyper-v 2016? ESX works without any credentials and wmi.
For wmi and credentials, VeeamONE must be on the same network as VM? Or is VeeamONE communicating via VMbus?
Thank you

Hello frufru and welcome to the community!
Yes, we added an option to check free space on Hyper-V VMs, which requires access to guest OS of Hyper-V VMs.
Thanks!

Yes, it should be on the same network with monitored VMs.frufru wrote:For wmi and credentials, VeeamONE must be on the same network as VM? Or is VeeamONE communicating via VMbus?
