Install VeeamOne on existing database

Post by rereduck »

Hello,

I'm trying to install Veeam One on a fresh install physical Windows Server 2012 R2 (Raid 1 was dead :/ Next time I'll backup it with Veeam Endpoint ^^).

The SQL Database was on another server and when I'm trying to install it with "use existing instance of SQL Server" I have this error : "Specified database is not valid. Please choose Veeam ONE database or create new ..."

I'm tring to setup VeeamOne 8 1569 but my database is in 1669 (update2), it can be the problem ?

I'll contact support if you do not have any idea to help me.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Please do the following:

1. Create a new database on your SQL server

2. Install Veeam ONE on your current server and point it to your fresh new database during the installation.

3. Update Veeam ONE to a higher version then point your Veeam ONE to an old database.

Actually you can just point the installer to a SQL Server instance without pre-creating any databases. Veeam ONE setup will deploy a fresh database and after that follow steps 2-3 in Pavel's recommendation if you want to retain your database.

Can I install Veeam One on the same server where I have Veeam B&R and the SQL Server 14 (full version)? What is the best practice?

Yes, you can definitely do it. The best practice would be to balance the load on the server and depending on your infrastructure size, place different components to separate computers.
