installations Veeam One

Post by felyjos »

Hello,

Is it possible to install VeeamOne on SQL Server 2008 SP1?

I have tested with SQL eXpress Server 2008R2 included in the installation package but I don't have a production server with SQL Server 2008 R2 yet.

Thanks,
Dominique

Hello,

I don’t have SQL 08 R2 Available in Production for now. Any other way to do it? Reinstalling VeeamOne on a New Database SQL 2008 SP1?
Following the VeamOne Guide it is supposed to work

ONE
Database
• Microsoft SQL Server 2005
• Microsoft SQL Server 2008
• Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (Express edition is included in Veeam ONE

Ticket 5191987:
Hello,

You have a version mismatch of the SQL servers. Instead of using SQL 08 SP1, you need to use SQL 08R2. The version mismatch is what is causing the issue here. I hope this helps.

Thanks,
DOm

Hi Dom,

Yes, SQL Server 2008 SP1 should be supported. Service packs are not mentioned in the Release Notes document, as you should be running the latest patch available for any SQL Server in that list.

What kind of issue do you have?

Thanks!

Hi Vitaly,

As the test was done with SQL eXpress Server 2008 R2 within the installation package I wanted to transfer the datbase to the Entreprise Cluster as SQL eXpress is limited to 10 Gb.
I Opened a ticket with Veeam Support #5191987 but they are trying to force me to move to SQL Server 2008 R2 I don't have a production server SQL 2008 R2
So now the datbase is full and I am blocked....
Any idea is welcome?
I

Thanks,
Dom

I've just looked through your support case and looks like transferring any database from R2 to an earlier version of SQL Server is not supported by Microsoft:
The database “VeeamOne’ cannot be opened because it is version 661. The server supports version 655 and earlier. A downgrade path is not supported.
Could not create new database ‘VeeamOne’ CREATE DATABSE is aborted.
To resolve this issue I would suggest to create a brand new database on your production SQL Server to host Veeam ONE performance and configuration data, should help.
