Veeam One on running on EC2 using RDS ?
Hi,
Is it possible to configure Veeam One using and an AWS RDS SQL instance for its Database, and more importantly would it be a supported configuration?

Re: Veeam One on running on EC2 using RDS ?
Hi Mark,
The deployment of the Veeam ONE database in AWS RDS has not been tested by our QC team and is not officially supported atm. Personally, I do not think there should be issues with it given the connectivity and data flow are stable, however, from the DR and reliability standpoints, it does not look like an ideal setup, especially if the Veeam ONE server is located on-premise. You may give it a try but at your own risk.
Thanks

Re: Veeam One on running on EC2 using RDS ?
I was thinking of migrating the current on-prem Veeam One + SQL to EC2/RD, not just the DB.
We are doing a cloud migration and everything that can go, should go... We also plan to move the main VBR server on to EC2 at some point.

Definitely makes sense. I'll make a note for our QC team to take a look at this scenario in the future. Again, personally, I do not think there should be issues with this setup, but it's just a theory.

I don't want to rig something up that isn't supported. I can shelve this migration for a while, but it might have to go by the summer. Is there a method of updating us once QC have checked it out?

Re: Veeam One on running on EC2 using RDS ?
Hi Mark,
We've performed a full testing cycle of Veeam ONE v11 having its components residing in RDS and can now officially state that there are no issues and such scenarios and are officially supported. The scenarios we've tested are:
1. Veeam ONE server and Web Services located in EC2, Veeam ONE database in RDS;
2. Veeam ONE server and Web Services located on-premise, Veeam ONE database in RDS.
Thanks
