Hello folks,

(excuse my poor english)

I don't know if this has been submitted before, but under Alarm Management, being able to used both VM *Folders* (VM & Template view) and VM *tags* would be nice (under alarm definition or exclusion)
Eg. tweak the predefined "VM with no backup" alarm so as to exclude those VMs tagged with a vSphere defined "No Backup" TAG (exlusion)
Eg. define a specific alarm for used tagged vital VMs (vm cpu usage for thos with "Production" TAG).

Regards,

Hello and welcome to the community!
You can synchronize VMware tags with Veeam ONE Business View groups and use them for the alarms assignment.
Thanks!

I had a case open (02174808) because the Veeam One taskbar icon was showing warnings, but when I clicked on the icon and clicked on Show Alarms, it would bring me to Infrastructure View, but there were no errors. It turns out the errors were in Data Protection View. I was told in the case that this was "by design" which seems a little off to me? I would think it would take me to the warnings? Anyway, they suggested I put a message here about the issue.

Thanks,
Mike

Can the ability for veeam one monitor remember your username instead of having to untick windows session credentials and then having to type out domain and then username every time you open veeam one , This is available on veeam Backup and Replication.

That sounds like a valid feature request.
Do you mean web interface(Reporter, Business View) or desktop one(Monitor)?

Hi Mike and welcome to the community!
I`ve just confirmed that it works same way in my lab and that`s bug, not design. We will fix it in next product version.
Thanks for the heads up!

The chargeback/showback reports that were added to Veeam ONE are fantastic! It would be great if another report could be added to meter/bill NSX Edge appliances, this would be particularly useful for vCloud Director SPs.
Things I'd like to report/bill on:
  • NSX Edge Appliance Size
  • HA Enabled?
  • Public IP address consumption
  • Traffic traversing the outside interface

Good start, you're the first one to say exactly what he wants for NSX monitoring, reporting feature, thank for that!:) We've spoken to many customers who said we need everything...

Could you add some minimum Values for CPU Cores and GB of RAM for the "Oversized VMs" Report?

The Information that a Windows 2012 R2 Server should run with 1 CPU und 1,3GB RAM might be technical correct, but you cant do anything interactive on a Server like this.

Hello Jens,
That`s a valid request, we will think about avoiding recommendations below minimal Microsoft Windows recommendation.
Thanks!

Will there ever be a Visio template for the Hosts and showing what VM's are attached them the Hosts?

Hello David,
There is Infrastructure Overview (Visio) report where you can go to VMware Configuration section and review VMs under hosts.
Thanks!

Hi, i put a feature request there : [feature request] No link to the "VM Guest Disk SPACE Usage
but i have noticed that this thread may be more accurate ...

This is just a simple shortcut to the detailled by VM report "VM Guest Disk SPACE Usage " :
It will be more convenient to have the report "VM Guest Disk SPACE Usage " directly inside VEEAM monitor console : I identify my VM, right click on it : "Reports"/VM/ -> "VM Guest Disk SPACE Usage "
But in place of that the only report we can click on is " Guest Disk Free Space" --> that report is per "infrastructure" view not per VM ... --> so we go to page 2 of that report / find our VM (if neither...) and next click on the VM name to finally get per VM "Guest Disk SPACE Usage."

Separate threads are always better, cause this topic starts to be confusing and hard to follow when different features are discussed.

On my wishlist for Veeam ONE is the following:
Detecting/Reporting virtual machines that have the disk format "Thick-Provision Lazy-Zeroed" and/or "Thick-Provision Eager-Zeroed" and not only "Virtual Disk: Is thin provisioned", because [is not] "thin provisioned" means only thick provisioned, but not concretely Lazy or Eager.

Please implement this function into a future version of Veeam ONE.
Thank you.

Hello Michael and welcome to the community!
I like the idea, will discuss it with developers.
Could you describe your use case? Do you need it in Custom Infrastructure report?
Thanks!

Hi Aram and welcome to the community!
Are you referring to this post?
We are working on a related feature for Backup Infrastructure monitoring for future releases. As for vSphere/Hyper-V, we add more checks to the assessment reports.

Hello Nikita,

We have a HPE 3PAR Storage System. Using only "Thick-Provision Eager-Zeroed" disks guarantees maximum performance.
Because we converted a lot of physical machines (back in the days), and the VMware vCenter Converter doesn't provide the disk converting option "Thick-Provision Eager-Zeroed", we have to convert the disks afterwards with the help of Storage vMotion.

I don't want to check every single VM (converted or existing/migrated VM from older ESX hosts) if it has disks that are not "Thick-Provision Eager-Zeroed".
My idea was to build a report with Veaam ONE for doing this query now and in future, but the functionality is not yet available ;-)

Can I request a feature please.

When looking at individual VM Summary Tabs, is it possible to display any Tags and Annotations of the VM ?

At the moment, when I get an alarm, I also have to go into vcenter to see who actually owns that VM.

It would be helpful.

Thanks

Hello Mark,
What if we add the info in tooltip?
As for summary, we are planning to show business view groups and categories.

AH, I was wondering what a tooltip was and then I just saw it... you already added it :) It would be better on the Summary, but now I know where to look, it helps.

cheers

Yeah, I knew it should be there :)
Why is it better to have it in summary? Do you want to highlight and copy it?
Thanks!

I might want to screenshot that summary screen and send it to someone.

There seems like a lot of usable space that is taken up by the Latest Alarms box, that could be used for something else. If someone has enough Alarms to fill that big box, they are in trouble!

Thanks for the explanation.
You can still take a screenshot of the tooltip.
As for changes in Summary, as I mentioned, we are planning to show business view groups and categories and customers synchronize BV groups with vSphere tags, so for them showing tags in Summary is duplication.
