Restore plan - VMware tools are not running

Post by kongsbak »

Hi!

I've recently created a restore plan, which we haven't really used until now.
When i'm trying to verify the plan, and chooses to run a quick test. Everything works as expected, until the "Restore - Recovery" step checks for VMware tools. It simply states "VMware tools are not running on the VM *HOSTNAME*_VAOLAB", even though the VM is still booting, the retries is being executed a couple of second afterwards, with the same error. I can't seem to find a way to delay this check, only change the check to not critical, which would prevent the plan from being halted, but dosen't really seem like a good solution..

Should be possible to simply override the default plan step values for VM Heartbeat checks as per the documentation: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vao/u ... tml?ver=40

Hi,
This check is actually part of the VM initialization. We are waiting for the network to be connected. Does this VM ever receive a network from vCenter?

A good bonus question: Is this VMs virtual network card configured with a static IP or DHCP?

Do you use the OpenVM tools instead of the VMware own VMware Tools?

Hi @Alex King and @Haslund.
No the VM dosen't get a network adapter. Besides, to me it dosen't seem that the error has anything to do with the network adapter?

@Andreas Neufert
I use VMware Tools.

Hi,
The error is related to network initialization, it is related to VM Tools. Can you please check the VDRO network mapping (in the recovery location settings), and make sure that the source (production) VM networks are mapped to the DR networks where the lab is?
