Running recovered VM's on same host as VAO/VBR

Post by jimhunton »

Is it a supported configuration to recover and run VM's to the vmware host that has the VAO/VBR machines running on it?

Yes, it's fully supported to run VAO/VBR on the vSphere host where VMs are also being recovered (restored from backup, or replicas started). There are no such restrictions/dependencies on where VAO/VBR are located in the infrastructure.
Of course care should be taken that recovering VMs do not overload the host and consume all CPU and memory, for example, as this would impact VAO/VBR operations.
However there is no technical reason why this approach would not work.

Could even just reserve CPU/memory for VAO/VBR on the host to avoid any issues at all for Veeam operations.
