VRO Server in the cloud

Post by storageguy »

Hi,

We are in the process of deploying VRO to orchestrate the recovery of VMs to Azure.
Would it be a wise idea to deploy the VRO server in Azure as a VM instance?

Thanks

A few factors to consider. You have a single site and wish to orchestrate a failover to Azure. What happens if your entire production site becomes unavailable (natural disaster etc), then you can only start orchestration if your VRO server is located outside of the production site - for example in Azure. So why not place it in Azure? Some additional overhead cost, but if you only have a single site and Azure, then see it as cost of doing business to make sure you stay in business.

Something to consider as well, what repository are you pulling backups from?

@skitch210, it will be from a hardened repository.

Circling back on this post. Unfortunately for an Azure Cloud recovery it does require both VRO and VBR to be available. There is a way to quickly deploy a VBR in Azure at time of DR, but it would take additional steps and time. Just FYI. This would be a good VRO Heros Community group post.
