Force fixed ip on client

Post by doublem » May 29, 2019 7:59 am

Hi,

Is it possible in v2.0 to force a client to always get the same ip-number? (Needed initiate communications from LAN to dedicated client.)

Hello,
as you mention v2.0, are you talking about VeeamPN?

In Azure you can configure fixed IP address for a VM if that helps.

Best regards,
Hannes

Sorry. Yes, VeeamPN.

I am running a VeeamPN on my lan as a point-to-site vpn-server for about 10 clients (laptops, phones, tablets, ...).

I want to force one of those clients (ie clientcomputer3) to always get the same ip. I do not care about the other 9.

it's not possible in the UI.

If you are familiar with Linux, then you could try a manual open-vpn configuration (I did not test it)

/etc/veeampn/EndpointOVPN.cfg and client-config-dir (there are several HOWTOs on the internet)

the problem that might occur is that the configuration file might be reverted by VeeamPN later. So you need to test whether my idea works. Maybe even set immutable bit to prevent that. Just some ideas.
